Welcome to Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone 5, Region 1. Our region has member colleges from Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee. We offer intercollegiate competition in hunter seat and western for undergraduate students and alumni.

MTSU and Sewanee participated in the IHSA Service Project Awards this spring and were recognized for their teams work. MTSU competed in the Large Team category with their work with the 4H in Tennessee. MTSU offers an annual state FFA Judging Contest that serves 450 high school students. The team prepares the horses, act as competitors and assist the students. MTSU also hosts 330 students from middle Tennessee at a Practice Judging Contest each year. Throughout each year, the MTSU team offers 4H Clinics and Educational Events for elementary, middle and high school students.
Sewanee was awarded the Medium Size team honors at the 2012 IHSA National Horse Show for their annual fundraising for Horses in the Hood. Horses in the Hood is a non-profit organization that sends at risk youth from south central LA to a week of summer horseback riding camp. Sewanee Equestrian team member Blain Lewis says, "I feel so blessed to be able to give these children the opportunity to experience a bonding relationship with a horse."
