Welcome to Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone 5, Region 1! Our region has eleven member colleges from Tennessee, Mississippi and Kentucky. We offer intercollegiate competition in hunter seat and western for undergraduate students and alumni.
IHSA Zone 5, Region 1 Has a Great 2010 IHSA National Horse Show
MTSU placed third in the AQHA Western Team competition at the 2010 IHSA National Horse Show May 6-9. Sewanee competed in the Collegiate Cup Hunter Seat Team competition and tied for 12th. The horse show was held in the new Indoor Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.
Highlights of the horse show in addition to great riding were the the Thursday night USHJA and IHSA Open House at the USHJA building at the Kentucky Horse Park. All IHSA hunter seat riders and coaches joined Bill Moroney, President of USHJA and other USHJA staff members for food, fun and wonderful raffle prizes. Friday night the IHSA hosted an party to celebrate the retirement of the Cacchione Cup trophy and to introduce the new Cacchione Cup. Dr. Duncan Peters who was the first ever winner of the Cacchione Cup (then called the Fitch Cup) in 1972 was in attendance. Duncan and MTSU coach Anne Brzezicki were teammates at the University of Connecticut.
